Simon Trummer is a FIA Gold-graded professional endurance racing driver. Over thirteen seasons from 2010 to 2022, he raced single-seaters in GP2 and GP3, then moved to multiclass endurance machinery in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship, World Endurance Championship, and Nürburgring-based series. He drove primarily for Rapax in single-seaters and PR1 Motorsports Mathiasen in endurance racing.[1]
His most productive period came in IMSA WeatherTech between 2018 and 2020, where he took three wins and four podiums across 23 starts in prototype machinery. His earlier single-seater career, spanning 2010 to 2015, yielded only a single podium from 93 starts across GP3 and GP2 Series. He raced the Nürburgring endurance series and its 24-hour race intermittently from 2016 onwards. His final indexed racing came in the 2021 World Endurance Championship, where he finished 26th in the championship standings across two rounds.[2]
In single-seaters, Trummer regularly faced established professionals including Platinum-graded Rio Haryanto, with whom he proved closely matched, and Felipe Nasr, a future IMSA GTP champion whom he typically finished behind. He beat elite professionals including Mitch Evans, who went on to race Formula E, on fifteen occasions. His endurance results placed him among a field mixing amateurs and professionals across five continents; his three IMSA wins and steady progression through that championship's prototype classes show his strongest work came in longer-format racing where he could build pace through stints and learn from shared-car experience.
