Tiago Petiz is an entry-level professional who raced single-seater cars in the Formula Renault Eurocup, a championship that fields amateur, semi-professional and professional drivers in the same races. He competed for Motorsport Arena in 2007, his only indexed season.[1]
Petiz finished 23rd in the 2007 Formula Renault Eurocup standings across eight rounds. He was regularly outpaced by established rivals such as Oliver Turvey and Tobias Hegewald, both of whom would go on to race at higher levels; Turvey later competed in Formula E and GP2 Series, while Hegewald took 13 starts in GP3 Series. Petiz nonetheless finished ahead of Jaime Alguersuari, an established professional who would race in Formula 1, twice during the season, and beat Jules Bianchi once, a driver who would become 2009 Formula 3 Euro Series champion before his own Formula 1 career.[2]
