🇫🇷 Vincent Capillaire

Vincent Capillaire is a professional endurance racing driver, FIA Silver graded, who raced LMP2 prototypes in the World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series between 2014 and 2021. He competed primarily for Graff, taking a shared drive in the multiclass fields that characterise international prototype racing.[1]

Across eight seasons Capillaire made 18 starts in indexed racing and took two podium finishes, both in the WEC. His final season was 2021, when he started one round and finished 26th in the championship standings. His career ran concurrently with two strong opponents, Julien Canal and Roman Rusinov, both multiple WEC LMP2 champions; he typically finished behind them. On rare occasions he bettered much faster drivers: he beat Ryo Hirakawa, a Platinum-graded professional and two-time Super GT champion then racing the WEC prototype field, and Jean-Eric Vergne, a double Formula E champion with 58 Formula 1 starts.[2]

The fields Capillaire raced mixed amateurs and semi-professionals with graded professionals, and he held his place among them. Graff Racing, his primary team, had fielded 36 drivers across its own record; its strongest driver was an established professional. Capillaire's podiums came in a series where the strongest regular opponents he faced were championship-winning drivers from the same class, and where he occasionally finished ahead of drivers from considerably higher categories, though these remained isolated results rather than a pattern.
