Mustang Challenge is a one-make sprint series run by IMSA featuring Ford Mustang Dark Horse R cars. The field is entry-level professional, stronger than the club and regional series that feed it but weaker than the peer endurance championships its drivers occasionally move into; its median driver is competitive amateur, while top drivers like Robert Noaker and Cole Loftsgard rate as entry-level professionals. The series draws drivers from NASA, SCCA club and regional racing, and SKUSA karting, and serves primarily as a stepping stone to GT4 America and endurance racing rather than a destination where established drivers settle. The DH class is substantially stronger than the amateur-heavy DHL class, reflecting a mixed field where professional and gentleman drivers compete separately by machine.
