Atsushi Tanaka is an entry-level professional racing in Super GT, a national multiclass endurance championship where GT300 and GT500 cars share the track. He races a GT300-class machine, a mix of FIA GT3 cars and Japanese-built specials, for Tomei Sports. Bronze-graded in FIA sportscar classification, he sits below the professional grades and races alongside established professionals in the same field. His career spans 17 seasons on the Super GT grid from 2010 to 2026, with 69 starts to his name.[1]
Tanaka has raced consistently in Super GT's GT300 class across more than a decade and a half. He has not won a championship. Most rounds find him mid-field within the GT300 entry, regularly behind the same core of drivers; his most frequent rivals are the established professional Hiroki Yoshimoto and the three-time GT300 champion Nobuteru Taniguchi, both of whom he meets repeatedly and typically finishes behind. His occasions finishing ahead of elite-level opposition include three instances ahead of Kenta Yamashita, a Platinum-graded driver and multiple Super GT GT500 champion, and one finish in front of Sho Tsuboi, a Platinum-graded elite professional who has won Super GT and Super Formula titles. Tomei Sports, his sole team across the career recorded here, has not taken a race win in the indexed database and fields drivers primarily in the amateur and semi-professional range.[2]
The 2026 season is still in progress; two rounds have run so far and Tanaka remains active on the grid.
