🇬🇧 Danny Watts

Danny Watts is a retired British professional racing driver. His indexed career spans single-seater and multiclass endurance competition between 2003 and 2016, with the bulk of his racing in the World Endurance Championship. He drove for Strakka Racing in WEC, piloting LMP1 and LMP2 prototypes across five seasons from 2012 to 2016.[1]

Watts made four starts in the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix between 2003 and 2005, then moved through Formula V8 3.5 and the Formula 3 Euro Series with brief single-seater campaigns before establishing himself in endurance racing. His WEC tenure with Strakka yielded two podium finishes across 22 starts; he finished twentieth in the championship standings in his final partial season, 2016. Across 29 career starts, he scored two podiums and competed in a mixed field of amateur, semi-professional and graded professionals.[2]

In WEC, Watts raced regularly against Nicolas Lapierre, a Platinum-graded established professional who won the 2016 LMP2 title and the 2022 Hypercar championship, and Allan McNish, an established professional with Formula 1 and International Formula 3000 experience; he typically finished behind both. He finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton once and Laurens Vanthoor once, both Platinum-graded established professionals with major championship credentials in their respective disciplines. Since retirement from racing, Watts has been active in team ownership and management in NASCAR.
