Didier Cottaz is a retired French racing driver who competed as an established professional in International Formula 3000, a single-class open-wheel championship that fielded drivers across amateur, semi-professional and professional grades. He raced for Stewart across two seasons from 1994 to 1995, taking 16 starts.[1]
Cottaz scored two podium finishes across his career in the series. He finished 18th in the 1995 championship standings, his final season of racing on record. His best results came against established professionals; he beat Jean-Christophe Boullion, who went on to race in Formula 1, on three occasions, and finished ahead of Gil de Ferran once, a driver who later competed in IndyCar.[2]
Within the regular field, Cottaz typically finished behind Vincenzo Sospiri, the 1995 International Formula 3000 champion, but ahead of Fabrizio de Simone. Stewart, his sole team across his career, fielded 11 drivers during the index period, with Allan McNish as its strongest driver, and took four wins across the season.
