Huub Rothengatter was an established professional racing driver from the Netherlands who competed in Formula 1 between 1984 and 1986. He drove for Zakspeed across 12 of his 26 championship starts, a team that won no races during his tenure and fielded several drivers across its seasons.[1]

Rothengatter's Formula 1 career spanned three seasons and 26 starts without scoring a championship point. He finished 14th in the 1986 standings, the year he accumulated the most starts for Zakspeed. In his time in the series he regularly faced elite professionals including Alain Prost and Nelson Piquet, drivers who dominated the field during the mid-1980s; Rothengatter consistently finished behind them. He did score race finishes ahead of established professionals including Keke Rosberg, the 1982 Formula 1 champion, and Thierry Boutsen, though these victories over stronger drivers came only once apiece.[2]
