🇺🇸 Reece Ushijima

Reece Ushijima is a retired professional driver who raced single-seaters across four seasons from 2020 to 2023. He spent most of his time in GB3 with Hitech Grand Prix, the team that also fielded elite professionals including Formula 1 driver Isack Hadjar. Ushijima recorded 64 starts across three championships, with two wins and eleven podiums.[1]

His record was built primarily in GB3, where he took both wins and nine podiums across 43 starts over two seasons. He then moved to the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2022 for a single-seater step up, racing a multiclass grid spanning amateur through graded professional competitors, but managed only one podium from eighteen starts with Van Amersfoort Racing. A brief USF Pro 2000 campaign in 2023 yielded one podium from three starts before his indexed racing ended.[2]

Ushijima ran closely with two established opponents throughout his career. He was evenly matched against Kush Maini, an established professional with extensive experience in Formula 2 and GB3, and similarly against Nazim Azman, an entry-level professional who raced at equivalent level. More significantly, Ushijima finished ahead of Isack Hadjar and Franco Colapinto, both elite professionals who went on to race Formula 1; he beat Hadjar five times and Colapinto seven times, though both remained stronger drivers overall across their much longer careers in higher series.
