Bart Horsten is an Australian-Irish driver who raced in British single-seater championships between 2019 and 2021. He spent his first season in British F4 with Arden, then moved to GB3 with Hitech Grand Prix for two seasons before retiring from the indexed record. Both series field mixed amateur and semi-professional grids against graded professionals.[1]
Horsten took one win across 69 starts, in British F4 in 2019, and scored 16 podiums. His record in GB3 was stronger than in F4; he gathered 6 podiums in 43 starts there and finished seventh in the 2021 championship. He was regularly competitive against established opposition; he beat Oliver Bearman twice, an elite professional and multiple Formula 4 champion who went on to race in Formula 2 and Formula 1, and he finished ahead of Luke Browning, a 2022 GB3 champion, in fourteen meetings across his two seasons.[2]
His most frequent rivals were Roberto Faria, an entry-level professional with extensive experience across British F4, GB3 and Formula 3 whom Horsten usually outpaced, and Louis Foster, an established professional and two-time Indy car champion. Against Foster, Horsten was closely matched; their head-to-head record shows neither driver held a clear edge. At a professional rating of 3,970, Horsten competed at entry-level professional standard, a tier occupied by drivers breaking through to established racing or consolidating a career in the amateur-to-professional boundary series that British F4 and GB3 represent.
