Tony Settember was an American racing driver and engineer who competed in Formula 1 during the early 1960s. He started his career in 1962 and competed across two seasons, recording nine starts in the championship without a win or podium finish. His racing activity was confined to the Scirocco team, a small American outfit that struggled to compete at the top level of international racing.[1]
Settember's record shows limited success against the established drivers of his era. He finished with an average grid position of P9.5 across his classified starts, and his only points of note came from occasional finishes ahead of more accomplished competitors; he beat Richie Ginther, Carel Godin de Beaufort, and Innes Ireland once each in their respective encounters. The Scirocco team itself produced no race wins across its entire history and remained uncompetitive throughout its time in Formula 1. Settember's final season in 1963 yielded six rounds of competition without a points finish, concluding his documented racing career at the age of two seasons.[2]
