Tsubasa Abe was a professional driver racing in a national pro-am multiclass endurance championship. He competed in Super GT's GT300 class, driving a mix of FIA GT3 and Japanese-built GT300 specials, between 2008 and 2011 for Team SG Changi and Racing Project Bandoh.[1]
Abe took two wins across four seasons and 25 starts, finishing on the podium three times. His record came in an era when the class included multiple champions; he regularly raced against Kazuki Hoshino, twice a GT300 champion, and Nobuteru Taniguchi, a three-time GT300 champion who would rank as an established professional, though Abe typically finished behind both. In his final season, 2011, he took 19th in the championship standings.[2]
The field that shaped his career included Yuhi Sekiguchi, an established professional who would go on to win the GT500 title, whom Abe beat on seven occasions across their meetings. Abe's wins came in a series where Sekiguchi and drivers of similar standing were regular presences on the grid.
