Darryl O'Young was a professional driver competing mainly in endurance racing. FIA Silver-graded, he spent a decade racing across multiple series from 2005 to 2018, with his longest tenure in the World Touring Car Championship, where he contested 91 starts for ROAL Motorsport across four seasons. He also drove for Aston Martin Racing in the WEC, for Prospeed Competition in the FIA GT Championship, and for bamboo engineering in various endurance championships.[1]
O'Young took three podiums across his career, two from seven WEC starts with Aston Martin and one from a single 24H Series appearance with PHOENIX RACING. In the World Touring Car Championship, his most sustained series commitment, he finished 18th in the 2013 standings. He raced against regulars including Yvan Muller, a four-time World Touring Car Champion and established Gold-graded professional, and Robert Huff, the 2012 champion; he typically finished behind both. His podium finishes included one appearance ahead of Brendon Hartley, a Platinum-graded established professional and multiple WEC champion, and one ahead of Kevin Estre, also Platinum-graded with a WEC LMP1 title and WEC HYPERCAR championship to his name.[2]
