Julian Hanses is a German racing driver with a Racer Rating of 3,912, placing him in the semi-professional band. This means he is a driver capable of winning in pro-am and one-make classes and competing in mid-pack fields among full professionals, though he has not yet established himself as a consistent front-runner in the strongest categories.[1]

Hanses has competed across six seasons from 2016 to 2026, with 66 starts yielding 1 win and 3 podiums. His career began in ADAC Formula 4 in 2016 and 2017, where he took his only victory across all series; he then stepped up to FIA Formula 3 European in 2018 with Carlin but failed to reach the podium in 18 races. The bulk of his rivals throughout his career have been established professionals rated above him. Against FIA Gold and Platinum graded drivers, former champions such as Juri Vips, Mick Schumacher, and Jonathan Aberdein, Hanses has compiled losing head-to-head records, finishing ahead of them only occasionally and in small numbers. He has, however, recorded isolated results against elite drivers including one finish ahead of Alex Palou, a four-time IndyCar champion rated 7,775, and multiple finishes ahead of Charles Weerts and David Malukas, both established professionals at the top level.[2]

In 2025 and 2026 he has turned to that discipline, competing in GT World Challenge Europe and the European Le Mans Series with Team Qatar by Iron Lynx, scoring one podium from three ELMS starts. His average finishing position across all series stands at P17.2, and he remains active in the sport, most recently competing in the 2026 WEC as part of Team Qatar's entry into the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
