🇨🇴 Carlos Huertas

Carlos Huertas is a Colombian professional who raced single-seater open-wheel cars in Europe and North America from 2009 to 2015. He spent most of his career with Carlin, competing in Formula 3 championships and, at the top level, in Formula V8 3.5 and IndyCar. He took two race wins across his career, one in each of his two most prominent series.[1]

Huertas' record spans seven seasons and 62 starts across five championships. He began in Formula 3 racing in 2009, progressing through the Formula 3 Euro Series and FIA Formula 3 European in 2011 before joining Carlin's Formula V8 3.5 effort in 2012, where he scored his first win. In 2014 and 2015 he stepped up to IndyCar for two seasons, taking one victory and finishing 28th in the 2015 championship standings across three rounds. He raced a mix of ovals and road courses in IndyCar, with 11 of his 21 starts on oval tracks.[2]

On road and street courses in Formula V8 3.5 and IndyCar, Huertas was closely matched with established professional Mikhail Aleshin, a regular opponent across both series. Against Carlos Munoz, an established professional who raced extensively in IndyCar and the Formula 3 Euro Series, Huertas usually finished behind. He beat elite professional Mitch Evans, the 2012 GP3 champion, twice, and finished ahead of Carlos Sainz five times; Sainz went on to win the 2014 Formula V8 3.5 championship and later race in Formula 1.
