Guido Knycz was an established professional racing single-seater formula cars. He competed in International Formula 3000, the principal European open-wheel championship of the era, driving for Crypton Engineering across nine starts in 1992 and 1993.[1]
Knycz made two seasons in the series. He finished 21st in the 1993 championship standings across five rounds. His record placed him mid-field in a field mixing amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals. He regularly raced against David Coulthard, an established professional who went on to 247 Formula 1 starts, and consistently finished ahead of Michael Bartels, a three-time FIA GT champion. Knycz also beat Laurent Aïello and Franck Lagorce, both of whom were established professionals with substantial careers in the same formula and beyond; Lagorce went on to win the 1994 International Formula 3000 championship. Crypton Engineering, his team, fielded seven drivers across the index with five wins to its name, its strongest driver being Luca Badoer, an established professional.[2]
