Victor Carbone is a Brazilian driver who raced single-seaters and karts at a professional level across six seasons. He spent the bulk of his career in Indy NXT from 2011 to 2013, driving for Sam Schmidt Motorsports, and also competed in GP3 and SKUSA SuperNationals. His rating of 4,086 places him at professional level, the tier at which drivers regularly compete against established professionals and semi-professionals in mixed-level fields.[1]
Carbone took one win across 34 starts, that victory coming in Indy NXT. He finished on the podium four times, all of them in Indy NXT, where he was a regular entrant over three seasons. His most frequent rival there was Jorge Goncalvez, a professional with substantial single-seater experience; Carbone proved closely matched with him. Against stronger opposition he typically finished behind: Esteban Guerrieri, an established professional who later won the 2012 Indy NXT title and the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup, was a regular opponent who usually outpaced Carbone. His Indy NXT tenure ended in 2013. He moved to GP3 in 2014, taking six starts with Trident, and his last indexed racing came in SKUSA SuperNationals that same year.[2]
Twice Carbone finished ahead of Josef Newgarden and twice ahead of Alex Lynn, both of whom went on to establish themselves as front-running professionals; Newgarden won the 2011 Indy NXT title that year and later became a two-time IndyCar champion, while Lynn claimed the 2014 GP3 championship. Sam Schmidt Motorsports, Carbone's home for most of his Indy NXT years, was a competitive outfit that fielded Newgarden and produced multiple race wins across the series.
