Kenny Acheson was a British racing driver from Northern Ireland who competed in Formula 1, International Formula 3000, and Formula 3 Macau between 1983 and 1986. An established professional, he raced for RAM in Formula 1, Jordan in the 1986 Formula 3000 season, and Nova Engineering in Macau, with a total of seven starts across these championships.[1]
Acheson's Formula 1 career spanned two seasons with RAM, running to three starts. He finished 15th in the 1985 championship standings, a season in which he served as a substitute driver. His only classified result in Formula 1 came in the 1983 South African Grand Prix, where he finished 12th. His single International Formula 3000 outing came for Jordan in 1986, and he contested three rounds of Formula 3 Macau for Nova Engineering in 1985.[2]
He raced primarily against established professionals in mixed-grade fields. He finished behind Volker Weidler across their meetings in Formula 3000 and Macau, and usually trailed René Arnoux in their encounters. He beat Christian Danner, the 1985 International Formula 3000 champion, and Pierre-Henri Raphanel, both established professionals with considerably longer résumés in the single-seater ladder.
