James Edward Vasser Jr. is an American retired racing driver who competed primarily in the CART series and Champ Car during his professional career. Vasser achieved significant success in open-wheel racing, winning ten CART series races and capturing the 1996 CART championship with Chip Ganassi Racing; he remained the last American to win the CART title. Among his notable accomplishments, Vasser won the 1996 U.S. 500 and achieved a best finish of fourth at the Indianapolis 500 on two occasions.[1]
