🇷🇺 Vitaly Petrov

Vitaly Petrov is an established professional and FIA Platinum-graded driver who spent most of his racing career in single-seater championships before moving to endurance racing. He raced Formula 1 for Caterham from 2010 to 2012, accumulating 58 starts and a single podium. His primary single-seater record came in GP2 Series, where he took 58 starts across four seasons from 2006 to 2009, winning four races and taking 11 podiums while driving for Barwa Addax Team, the outfit that won the 2009 GP2 championship.[1]

In WEC, Petrov competed in prototype racing across four seasons from 2016 to 2019 for SMP Racing, racing LMP1 and LMP2 machinery in a multiclass endurance field. He recorded five podiums from 26 starts, with his last season in 2019 yielding three podiums across the three rounds he contested and a tenth-place finish in the championship standings. His Formula 1 tenure saw him compete against the widest range of drivers at the sport's highest level; he finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton twice and Nico Rosberg four times, though those results were scattered across his 58 starts and set against a field that regularly contained multiple world champions and generational talents.[2]

In WEC Petrov proved closely matched against established peers including 2017 LMP2 champion Bruno Senna and 2021 Hypercar champion Kamui Kobayashi, both FIA Platinum drivers he met regularly as full-season competitors in the same prototype classes.
