Gar Robinson is an established professional racing driver; his Racer Rating of 5,339 places him at the level of a driver competing regularly against professionals and winning at the national and semi-professional level. He races primarily in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the United States' premier multiclass endurance series, where he has spent most of his career since 2020 in a shared LMP2 and LMP3 prototype for Riley Motorsports. The FIA has graded him Silver, a classification for drivers developing within sportscar and endurance racing. He also competes occasionally in Trans-Am sprint racing and raced in single-driver national series earlier in his career.[1]

Robinson has won three IMSA WeatherTech championships in his primary series; he took the LMP3 title in 2021 and 2023 and the LMP2 championship in 2022, all with Riley Motorsports. Across 47 WeatherTech starts, he has recorded 12 wins and 25 podiums, establishing himself as one of the series' consistent front-runners in prototype classes. His earlier racing included 28 NASA club-level starts in Spec Miata, where he took a win and eight podiums, and a pair of Trans-Am sprint races in 2023 and 2024 that yielded one victory. He finishes ahead of Dan Goldburg, a Bronze-graded professional with extensive IMSA and Prototype Challenge experience, as a consistent pattern; he also typically beats João Barbosa, a Platinum-graded former IMSA WeatherTech champion from 2014. His record includes occasions when he has finished ahead of drivers who went on to much higher-profile careers: he beat Pato O'Ward, an elite Gold-graded professional who has raced in IndyCar, in at least one race, and Kyle Kirkwood, another elite Gold-graded driver with significant IndyCar and Indy NXT credentials, once as well.
