Robert Wickens, a Canadian driver from Guelph, Ontario, built his early reputation in European open-wheel racing before transitioning into sports car competition. He finished runner-up in the FIA Formula Two Championship in 2009 and was runner-up again in the GP3 Series in 2010, showing consistent front-running pace at that level. In 2011 he returned to Formula Renault 3.5, a series he had first competed in during 2008, and won the championship with Carlin Motorsport backed by Marussia. He subsequently moved into the DTM with the HWA Team, gaining further experience in high-level touring car competition before his career carried him toward North American racing.[1]
Wickens now competes in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for DXDT Racing, where he remains an active and accomplished competitor. Across 51 career starts in the series, he has taken 3 wins, 20 podiums, and one championship, earned in 2023. His Racer Rating stands at 3,530, placing him 739th among active drivers on that scale. In the 2026 season, Wickens has recorded 4 podiums without a win through 14 rounds, sitting 18th in the standings, a season that reflects steady if not dominant form as he continues his career in prototype and GT competition.[2]
