The British Touring Car Championship is a single-class sprint touring car series established in 1958 and held annually in the United Kingdom. It runs to Next Generation Touring Car regulations. The field is solidly professional, anchored by drivers like Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram who are established competitors at the top of domestic touring car racing. The median rating is somewhat below the World Touring Car Championship, with which it trades drivers in both directions; drivers arrive from the higher single-seater series British F4 and FIA GT Championship as well as the WTCC itself, and move on to British GT and GT World Challenge Europe, establishing the BTCC as both a destination for experienced touring car professionals and a stepping stone toward international GT racing.
