Super Formula is a single-seat sprint series run primarily in Japan and sanctioned by the Japan Automobile Federation. It fields the strongest drivers in Asian single-seater racing, including established professionals such as Tadasuke Makino, Tomoki Nojiri and Sho Tsuboi. The field is professionally graded, with a substantial Gold tier alongside Platinum and Silver drivers. Super Formula sits at the apex of the regional ladder; drivers arrive from Formula 2 and the leading Formula 3 championships, and most move on to international sportscar racing through series such as IMSA WeatherTech and the World Endurance Championship. It occupies a position comparable in strength to Formula 2, the peer series it exchanges drivers with most frequently, though it draws equally from the stronger regional Formula 3 fields including Macau.
