The IMSA Prototype Challenge ran single-seat LMP3 prototype sportscars in multi-class sprint racing, typically in support of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The series is no longer active. Its field held established amateurs and early-career professionals, with a small handful of experienced drivers; the strongest contenders included George Kurtz, Nolan Siegel, and Gar Robinson. The series occupied the middle rung of IMSA's ladder, stronger than IMSA Mazda Prototype Lites and GT4 America but considerably weaker than the WeatherTech championship above it. Drivers typically arrived from IMSA's lower single-seater and club racing pipelines and moved on toward either the WeatherTech championship or international sportscar racing in the World Endurance Championship.
