The Formula 3 Euro Series was a European junior single-seater championship that ran Formula Three chassis. It was launched in 2003 as a merger of the French and German Formula Three Championships and formed part of the established pathway toward Formula One. The series has now ceased. Its field occupied the established professional tier, with drivers like Carlos Sainz and Pascal Wehrlein competing at or near its peak. Drivers typically arrived from lower series such as Formula Renault Eurocup and progressed toward prototype and sportscar racing in WEC and IMSA WeatherTech, or upward to GP2. Its strength was comparable to Formula V8 3.5, though slightly ahead of the peer single-seater and sportscar series it traded drivers with most regularly.
